Kumeu River Village Pinot Noir 2020
|New Zealand, Auckland, Kumeu
A translucent raspberry juice hue, this is a delicate Pinot from a producer far better known for its Chardonnay. In a reversal of roles, its red is lighter-more delicate and understated-than its whites. With plenty of swirling in glass, dainty aromas of strawberries and raspberries still on the bush float to the fore, followed by cocktail bitters, roses and white pepper. The fresh tang of red fruit on the featherlight palate is tugged gently into place by chalky, skinsy tannins. Delicious drinking now until 2028.
Tangy, featuring strawberry-rhubarb flavors at the core, with a juicy thread of acidity and hints of dried lavender on a light, fresh frame. Drink now. 3,000 cases made, 400 cases imported.
