Packed within a pale lemon hue and tinges of youthful green, this wine offers brazen aromas of lime zest, crisp pear, and stone fruits up front while undertones of marzipan and chalky minerals develop as moments pass. On the palate, this Chardonnay is driven by striking notes of lemon meringue, red apple, and a hint of toasted vanilla bean. Enjoy over time as subtleties gain depth and power. The wine culminates in a textured and long finish that is carried along by vibrant acidity.

Light shimmering gold. Fresh and energetic on the assertively perfumed nose, displaying fresh pear, nectarine and Meyer lemon scent accompanied by suave floral and chalky mineral flourishes. Silky and open-knit, offering densely packed yet shockingly lively citrus and orchard fruit, honeysuckle, candied ginger and saffron flavors that tighten up slowly with aeration. Shows outstanding delineation and finishes extremely long and seamless, showing bright mineral cut and lingering floral, iodine and pit fruit notes. These vines are still very young (planted in 2008) but the vineyard, at least based on my experiences with wines produced by a number of different winemakers, should be counted among California's elite, for both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and possibly Syrah as well.

The 2017 Chardonnay Soberanes Vineyard is a small step up, with more depth of fruit and richness. Orange blossom, orchard fruits, white peach, and some toasty notes give way to a ripe, sexy, full-bodied effort that holds onto beautiful purity and elegance. Drink it over the coming 3-5 years.

An expertly reserved streak of hazelnut and thinly sliced lemon rinds meet with a waft of butter on the delicately delicious nose of this bottling by the Pisoni family. The palate is wrapped in a chalky tension, allowing flavors of clay, Meyer lemon and light buttercream to take hold.

Creamy and rich, with a zesty backbone to the ripe white fruit and spice flavors. Buttery pastry notes emerge on the finish. Drink now through 2023. 512 cases made.
